Noel Thompson works in BBC News and Current Affairs and has done, in his own words, "for longer than he cares to remember".

He anchors the nightly flagship television news programme, BBC Newsline, on BBC 1 Northern Ireland and presents the weekly ground-breaking political programme, Hearts and Minds.

Noel is a two times winner of the Royal Television Society's Regional Presenter of the Year Award. He has also won the IPR Broadcaster and Journalist of the Year Awards. Last year he was given an Award of Distinction by the Belfast Metropolitan College for his contribution to journalism.

His BBC career started as a researcher on the Nationwide programme in Belfast, Manchester and London. Since then he has worked on a wide range of local and network programmes.

Lives
Noel was born in Belfast and still lives in Northern Ireland.

Hobbies/Interests
Away from the studio he is an enthusiastic singer, cyclist and hill walker.
