Juliet Turner one of the most intriguing Irish female song writers, Juliet Turner stumbled into making music after she was given a guitar for her 15th birthday and met a poet who told her to start writing her own songs.

In 1996 whilst on an Erasmus study year at Strathclyde University, she was offered the chance to record those songs and the result was Let’s Hear it for Pizza. She moved back to Dublin to finish her degree and start playing live shows and was soon opening shows in the city for international artists such as Bob Dylan, Gabrielle, Sting, U2 and Brian Adams and was touring with Joan Armatrading, Brian Kennedy, Ron Sexsmith and Roger McGuinn.

In 2000 she set up her own label Hear This! Records with her manager Derek Nally and released her second album Burn the Black Suit on the label which went double platinum in Ireland. It was recently voted one of the top 100 Irish albums of all time by Hot Press Music Magazine.

Season of the Hurricane was released in 2004 and went platinum in Ireland in June that year, as well as going to number eight in the Irish album charts. It also found itself nestling at number five in the Amazon internet charts between Norah Jones and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

In 2005 Juliet picked up an Irish Meteor Music Award for best Irish Female Performer, signed a distribution deal with Valley in America and released Juliet Turner - Live. This set the tone for the gigs to follow over the next couple of years as Juliet began to play all her live shows in small venues, with a move away from a band driven sound back to the acoustic guitar and narrative storytelling of her first album.

Her version of Julie Miller’s song Broken Things featured in the film Omagh and her version of Lee Hazelwood’s Sugartown is to appear in a film about the singer due for release next year.

In October 2007 she returned to Trinity College, Dublin to undertake a BSc in Clinical Speech and Language Studies. Alongside this, the song-writing and performing continues and Juliet has recorded a new album with producer Keith Lawless - due for release in June 2008.
