Jackie Fullerton made his break into the media working for UTV after a career in Irish League soccer which included a League Championship win with Crusaders in 1973.
As an avid sports enthusiast, he also played cricket for Junior Ulster.
Since joining BBC NI in 1992 he has worked as a presenter and commentator on local and international soccer (his specialist area), rugby, motor bike racing and Gaelic games. Jackie has attended many major sports events including Soccer World Cup finals, Irish Golf Open Championships and the Isle of Man TT.
He has also regularly co-hosted and taken part in BBC NI's Children In Need and has presented a number of radio programmes involving sport and music.
Jackie appeared with George Jones and Clubsound to record the single We're Not Brazil, We're Northern Ireland, along with b-sides I'm Yer Man and Mexico, Here We Come.
He also published his story I Did it My Way.
Lives
Jackie was born in Ballymena and has lived there most of his life.
Hobbies/Interests
He says his hobbies are his job and playing golf in the summer at Galgorm Castle. He also enjoys singing having performed in Belfast’s Waterfront Hall and the Odyssey; following in the musical footsteps of the world’s best crooners – Dean Martin and Perry Como.
