Donna Traynor's role as anchor of BBC NI Newsline brings her into local homes every night, Monday to Friday. Her success in presentation was reflected in 2001 when she received a much sought-after award nomination from the Royal Television Society in the Best Regional TV Presenter category.

Donna spreads her wings when it comes to broadcasting and hosts the annual charity extravaganza Children in Need. In the highly rated TV programme Country Times, she travelled all over Northern Ireland meeting people who do weird and wonderful things. Hosting the Balmoral Show, the highlight of the local agricultural calendar, is also a regular part of her diary.

In 2001 to mark the 60th anniversary of the Belfast Blitz, Donna co-presented a spectacular show at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast which relived the stories and music of the time. Due to audience demand the show has been repeated a number of times. She has also been involved in Music Live and education programmes for BBC NI and BBC network.

It's not unusual for Donna to let her hair down on screen. She's been known to sing and dance for her supper during such programmes as BBC NI's Making A Difference.

Donna's introduction to journalism was with RTE in Dublin after her studies in Dublin and Lancashire. She joined the BBC in 1989 and as a Radio Ulster newscaster was the first person to break the news of the IRA ceasefire in August 1994.

Donna lives in Northern Ireland with her husband the broadcaster Ronan Kelly.
