Colin Bateman is the best selling author of more than 20 novels for adults and children, as well as a successful screenwriter for both film and TV.
He was a journalist before he published the award winning Divorcing Jack in 1995, which he has followed up with a string of best sellers, including Empire State, I Predict A Riot and in March 2008, Orpheus Rising. He also wrote the screenplays for the films of Divorcing Jack, Crossmaheart and Wild About Harry.
For TV Colin created the long running series Murphy's Law starring Ulster actor Jimmy Nesbitt, as well as an adaptation of Marian Keyes' best selling novel Water Melon. Last year he went in front of the cameras himself to present, Bateman on Bangor, an acclaimed documentary about his home town and how his experiences growing up there turned him into the writer he is today.
Colin is currently working on a new documentary, Bateman's Belfast Confidential for BBC 1, and publishes his next children's novel Titanic 2020 in June 2008.
He continues to perform highly popular readings of his work at home and abroad, including most recently in London and Paris. Lives Colin was born in Bangor, Co. Down and still lives in Northern Ireland.
