Ben Sands is a multi-talented musician who has been touring and recording for many years both as a solo performer and as a member of the widely known and acclaimed Sands Family.

He sings songs - mostly his own - and writes about life, love and the ways of the world. Some of his creations are whimsical, some are sad and some are very humorous indeed.

He plays an assortment of instruments, notably guitar, mandolin, banjo, whistles, keyboards and fiddle and also tells stories, some of which are true.

More recently, Ben has taken to song writing with a natural ease and his songs are gradually finding their way into many repertoires and recording studios.

To date, he has released three solo albums, including the highly acclaimed Better Already, which features the song Hug - currently the soundtrack for Imperial Leather’s TV and Cinema advertising campaign. His fourth album is currently in production.

Lives
Ben lives in Newry, Co Down, close to the mountains and the sea and not so far from the small farm where he and his six siblings grew up.

Hobbies/Interests
Outside of music Ben enjoys writing and painting, travel, alternative healing/medicine, including Reiki, meditation, Tai Chi, folk/herbal  remedies and loves reading, especially short stories, humour, poetry, philosophy and history. From time to time he also plays golf, tennis and snooker, but is much better at watching them on TV.
