Olivia Nash is a highly acclaimed actress and comedienne and has been at the heart of Northern Ireland’s entertainment industry for some 40 years. Star of stage, screen and radio, she has performed alongside many of the province’s greatest comedians, sharing centre stage with the legendary James Young for 11 years and, more recently, with fellow female comedienne Nuala McKeever.
Having successfully toured throughout the US and Canada with the Charabanc Theatre Company, Olivia is perhaps best known for her staring role as ‘Ma’ in the smash hit BBC NI TV series Give My Head Peace. She also recently presented the Co Antrim episode of BBC NI’s Fat Lad series.
She has appeared in many films, the most recent of which being Sir Richard Attenborough’s Closing the Ring; part of which was filmed in Belfast.
In addition to her work in front of the camera, she also donates much of her time to charity and has raised more than £1m for the Northern Ireland Hospice Walk with the help of her ‘Mrs Walker’ character.
A veteran entertainer, Olivia’s own amiable personality and deceptively sharp wit has made her a star that is just as comfortable performing live at the Grand Opera House in front of a capacity crowd as she is in front of a ladies luncheon or sports dinners. Olivia is without doubt, one of the province’s most popular corporate and after-dinner Lady of Ceremonies.
